Book Review : Between the Lines // Jodi Picoult & Samantha Van Leer
Here is another book that I fell in love with over the
past few months of reading.
My Rating :
4.5/5 ✮
Sypnosis :
Delilah knows its weird, but she cant stop reading her
favourite fairytale. Other girls her age are dating and cheerleading. But then,
other girls are popular.
Delilah loves the comfort of the happy ending, and
knowing there will be no surprises.
Until she gets the biggest surprise of all, when Prince
Oliver looks out from the page and speaks to her.
Now Delilah must decide: will she do as Oliver asks, and
help him break out of the book? Or is this her chance to escape into happily
ever after?
Read between the lines for total enchantment.
Review :
I love this book simply because of the fact that the
reader gets to communicate with the characters in the book. It isn’t that easy
of course and there were some complications before Delilah actually gets a
chance to converse with Oliver but still she got to talk to her favourite not
to help handsome character.
I really did like the plot line and as always Picoult
delivered an amazing read but I couldn’t help but find it a bit too sappy?
Kiddish? Am not entirely sure. Yes I did like the book but it was maybe too
much of fairytaliness I guess. The book did have quite a few relatable aspects.
The fact that Delilah preferred reading over socializing with humans and that
sometimes whatever she says although it’s the truth no one is willing to
believe in her, a situation gone through multiple of times.
This book in a way teaches about finding yourself in a
world that’s constantly trying to say your something your not and also about
making sacrifices to achieve your dreams. It gives hope and a happily ever
after, no doubt and I guess that’s what I really liked about the book more than
anything else. About how Oliver strives to be free from a world he doesn’t
belong in and how Delilah tries to find herself in a world she loves.
Another one of my favourites is the cute little doodles
and elaborate sketches that you can see throughout the book and it really adds
to the magic.
And there you go, another review on another great book.
Don’t forget to check it out on your next book shopping trip =)
Take care bears
Till next time
