December Wrap Up
This is the final wrap up for 2016!!! I didn't really read much as I thought I would read. I think you could blame that on the kdrama I watched recently. Yesh! I finally watched it and understood all this hype about kdramas. And I am soooo going to watch more :p
Trials of Apollo : The Hidden Oracle // Rick Riordan
Honestly I didn't really get much of the "Rick Riordan" vibes from this books like when I read the Percy Jackson series or the Red Pyramid Trilogy. I don't whether it was because I was a child back then and I have grown up a lot (tbh I think I am still like an eleven year old) but I prefer Percy Jackson to this. Not that this was bad. It was quite good. There was the usual sarcastic comments and the witty remarks and you are probably going to laugh your backside off even though there is a serious situation going on. I don't know that's what Riordan's books do to me. Overall it was a good book and quite a light read. There wasn't much to wrap your head around on and you could easily finish this book.
Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children // Ransom Riggs
This is the first book in a trilogy and the only book I have read so far. It was actually quite good. When I bought it there were a lot of mixed reviews but I enjoyed it. I found this new world of peculiar children and hollowghasts and time loops quite interesting and refreshing. There were a few drawbacks but it's not much. The good outweighs the bad in so many ways. There was action, fantasy and mystery, three of my favourite genres in one! So of course I enjoyed the book. However I watched the movie as well and I didn't quite like it. The book was better. As always.
This was very different teen fic book. Yes it had the cliche elements like popular boy and nerd. The last year of highschool and bucker list. The one and only bestie. The mean queen bee. But overall it was quite different from most books I have read. I don't know why. Maybe it's the way the things on the bucket list was done. Or the fact that a character like Ellie is very um..likable?? And she doesn't really change into this girl who thinks she can take on anything just because she is dating the most popular boy in school thing. Because personally I believe you change over a period of time and not an instant unless of course you are two faced and you decide to drop one of your masks. Overall it was an enjoyable book.
That is it! The last few books I read in 2016! I hope 2017 brings more amazing bookish things!
Till next time
Take care
