5 years of writing

Hello readers.

Today's post is a throwback kinda post about my five years of writing. Yes its been five years since I first started writing. #timeownsajetpack

I first started writing when I was eleven years old at grade six somewhere between the end of February to the beginning of march, can't really remember when because back then I wasn't big on remebering dates.

My first story that I wrote was 'Murder House', virtual cookies to those who remembers that book, and I never really told anyone that I had started writing it. I kept it from my friends and family for at least around six months I think.

I was inspired to write by one of my friends actually. She was writing a book called 'A World of chocolates' and it was a cute book. When I read it I thought to myself 'hey I can write one too since I never stick to my word limit in essays' and so I did.

Somewhere in grade seven six months later my friends and family found out that I wrote books. Another friend of mine was writing a story and that was when I accidentally told Muthua (she writes amazing stories too) that I am also writing. She asked me to bring it to school the next day so that she could read it too. I was like 'oh no why did I tell her that I write.' I was terrified of the kind of comments I would get but fortunately she liked the story. She was the first person to read my first book and I am still very grateful to her that she pushed me and gave me hope when I was too scared to let it all out.#shebemyPIC

And then her besties read my story and one of them (zara) is an amazing artist so she made me a cover which I coloured in later. She writes + draws some amazing comics. So gradually my class started reading my stories.

Then when I came to grade nine I started writing a book called 'Over Spilt Nescafè' which led to my batch mates reading the story. It was also the story which I had the courage to post on wattpad. I did post 'murder house', 'hopeless' (now known as 'Germs in my running shoes') and 'Charms' on wattpad but removed them all a chapter later cuz I was too scared.

To date I still have no idea on how I had the courage to post OSN on wattpad but I am glad I did. Through it I got many more readers plus I found some amazing new writers right here in Sri Lanka.

Plus last year on July something (honestly its so hard for me to remember the dates) I published my first novel 'Germs in my running shoes'. You can buy it at Vijitha yapa bookstore, sri Lanka or even at Amazon.com.

I am still working on a lot more novels which I plan on finishing soon cuz I have got more ideas coming. I hope to finish at least three novels by the end of this year insha Allah.
